About the piece:

emergency exit only explores the gradations of noise and pitch in sound and the idea of developing tension in music. The piece introduces textures with varying degrees of opacity and clarity, obscuring and revealing parts of a bright and luminous chord. As the piece progresses, the accumulation of tension through noise gives way to a rhythmic ending.
