About the piece:
This piece explores the static and insistent nature of the pin-striped tit-babbler’s bird call. The piece opens with shimmering, shifting microtonal harmonies, develops into bold flourishes, and the bright harmonies at the end dissipates into air, leaving only the solo oboe behind.

About the piece:
This piece explores the static and insistent nature of the pin-striped tit-babbler’s bird call, which is heard at the beginning of the piece. The solo oboe explores contrasting moods – at times more relaxed, sometimes faltering – but eventually becomes more and more insistent, ending in its highest register.
